C Division Inter-Schools Tournament 2009 in Pictures

It all started with an opportunity. An opportunity to pursue a passion, to train hard for it and compete in it. An opportunity to learn beyond the classroom walls. 15 girls responded.

After one month of training, Henderson sent in their very first Girl's Soccer Team to participate in the very first SSSC/FAS National Inter-School Soccer Championships (C Division Girls) 2009. We shall let the pictures do the talking...

Our debut match of the tournament: HSS vs QSS
*HSS is decked in green!*

Thanking our opponents at the end of the match. We lost our first game, but much experience gained.

Our second match against Fuchun Secondary School. It was an evenly fought match with both teams having a fair share of chances at goal! Our girls had a few chances to get on the scoresheet and defended well. They fought to a 0-0 draw. Good job girls!

Post-match report: Delighted HSS girls doing the cool down stretching.

Our captain, Ain, looks on as the referee tossed the coin to decide which team was to start the match first.

The match versus Siglap Secondary School starts and Azirah, the midfielder, tussles for the possession of the ball in the defensive half.

Our girls keeping possesion of the ball and launching another attack into the opponent's half.

Henderson Henderson Go! Go! Go! Our must-have team cheer before every match.

Although our team did not make it to the top four of the league, our girls showed marked improvement as the competition progressed. Playing with 8 teams from other secondary schools was a test of their fitness and mental strength. Our girls showed grit, optimism and never gave up. Congratulations girls for the successful tournament!
